Deviance is a violation of the norms of a society, not necessarily the acts themselves, but more so how society reacts and
perceives these acts. There are three main perspectives about deviance, The Symbolic Interactionist Perspective, The Functionalist
Perspective and the Conflict Perspective. The Symbolic Interactionist Perspective believes in the Differential Association
theory, which basically states that people conform or deviate from the norms based on the groups that they are exposed to.
The Functionalist Perspective believes in the Strain theory, which states that values and norms in a society actually contribute
to crime and crime is a natural part of society. Lastly, the Conflict Theory states that rules make for the feeling of oppression.
